ARTsmart New Mexico wants you to know that “You Will Be Served” once again and this time our Annual Dinner & Auction, since it will be held at an original Fred Harvey House, La Fonda on the Plaza, has the theme of “Harvey Girls.” Fred Harvey was known for his “3,000 miles of hospitality” and his legendary Harvey Girls served up generations of great food and great service.

The original Harvey Girls won’t be serving us but La Fonda on the Plaza continues the tradition and will serve up a delicious feast paired with wonderful wines. Our 2018 Honorary Chair, Stephen Fried, is the author of Appetite for America: Fred Harvey and the Business of Civilizing the Wild West -One Meal at a Time. He will be speaking and there will also be veteran Harvey Girls in attendance. His offering for the live auction is a once-in-a-lifetime tour for two of “Harvey Houses from New Mexico to the Grand Canyon” in which you can savor great meals and lodgings at historic Harvey Houses including La Fonda On the Plaza, La Posada in Winslow, AZ, and the world-famous El Tovar on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Included in this package are exclusive tours, tickets for the Grand Canyon Railway, a signed copy of Fried’s book, a special unpublished Harvey House cookbook, an opportunity to have a virtual meeting with Fried to answer all of your Harvey questions (great for your book club), and 4 place settings of HF Coors reproductions of Mary Coulter-designed “Mimbreno” dinnerware to remember your trip by.

This year you will have a hard time choosing from three delicious meals created by La Fonda On the Plaza chefs. All selections will be accompanied by a green salad, fresh dinner rolls, and dessert, La Fonda’s classic “Raspberry Enchiladas,” created by Santa Fe High School’s Culinary Program Chefs-in-training:

  • Duet of Petit Filet and Jumbo Shrimp Char-grilled filet mignon and stuffed jumbo shrimp served with apple cider demi-glace and lemon butter sauce, accompanied by fingerling potato hash.
  • Classic Chicken La Fonda Breast of chicken filled with bacon, red onion, green chile, jack and cheddar cheese, lightly breaded, flash fried, and oven baked. Accompanied by mild green chile cream sauce, chef’s-choice vegetable, and garlic mashed potatoes.
  • Vegetarian: Roasted Cashew Cake with roasted tomato sauce, lentil salad, red pepper hummus, steamed broccoli, black bean salad and creamy sweet potato polenta.

Gorgeous works of ceramic art including dinner plates, salad plates, and new for this year -flower pots- painted by Santa Fe Public Schools’ 5th graders (Click HERE to view this year’s selection) and paintings (see below) made by Santa Fe High School students mentored by 2018 Honorary Artist, Barry McCuan will be amongst the amazing auction items offered.  McCuan is a New Mexican plein-air oil painter represented by Ventana Fine Art and he will be offering one of his landscapes, “Coeur De Ferme – Provence,” in the live auction.

TICKETS are $200 each or a table of 10 for $1750. This event is SOLD OUT. To be put on a waiting list please call 505-992-2787.
