Congratulations to Sofia Leyba!

2023 Art Changes Lives Scholarship Winner

Sofia will receive $9500 towards tuition and fees distributed over four years of study.  A 2023 graduate of New Mexico School for the Arts in Santa Fe.

Sofia will attend the University of New Mexico in the fall.

Currently, there is a fight that affects every living being on this planet. Climate change is a threat to human existence, it is an intersectional issue that is fought across the world and I intend to join in that effort. In college, I hope to study environmental science, economics, and fine arts to create an interdisciplinary path for myself to progress the fight to save our planet. Using my knowledge of climate science, finances, and visual media, I will create interactive art that makes messages of social justice accessible to my community and inspire people to take charge of their futures.” - Sofia Leyba
