Visiting Artist Program - Santa Fe

 

Program Goals:

  • Visiting Artists introduce students and teachers to new skills, media, concepts, diverse cultures, and aesthetic frameworks. 

  • Students construct artworks that illustrate connections between their ideas and experiences with themes explored and shared by Visiting Artists. 

  • Students develop confidence and self-discovery by expressing their own personal voices and ideas through their artwork, celebrated within the community through exhibits and events. 

  • Students gain knowledge of varied career paths in the arts and recognize Santa Fe’s vibrant cultural fabric.

  • 98% of participating in Santa Fe public school art teachers surveyed report high satisfaction with the delivery of ARTsmart’s Visiting Artist Program

  • 100% participating in Santa Fe public school art teachers surveyed report high satisfaction with Visiting Artists who led workshops with their students

  • 100% of classrooms participating in the Visiting Artist Program participated in the program consistently for the past 3 years

  • 100% of ARTsmart Visiting Artists are retained from year to year for the past 3 years 

  • 100% of SFPS Art teachers report that Visiting Artists represented diverse cultures and artforms

  • 95% of SFPS Art teachers report that students learned new skills and cultural perspectives that would not have been addressed without the program

  • 95% of middle school students reported high satisfaction while working with Visiting Artists to create murals at their schools. 

  • 100% of middle school students participating with Visiting Artists/muralists report feeling proud of the finished murals

  • 100% of students who participated in the Visiting Artists’ mural project reported that “the project made them feel more connected to my community”  

  • 100% of student-muralists learned to collaborate as a team of artists

  • 92% reported that they grew in their painting skills

  • 85% of students surveyed reported that they did not want to miss school during this project.
